At the age of twelve, my parents signed me up for the two week Excalibur program. At the time I did not know completely what I had gotten myself into. In fact, I was so excited getting on the float plane to Langskib, I forgot to say goodbye to my mother!
Now at the age of nineteen, I can say with confidence that getting on that float plane for the first time was the best decision I have made thus far. Northwaters Langskib has played a huge role in shaping who I am today. While canoe tripping through Northwaters Langskib, I quickly learned valuable lessons of respect, teamwork and the value of doing a job completely. There is nothing quite like enduring the highs and lows of a canoe trip with a group and experiencing the tight bonds which slowly develop. Through long portages, bugs, cliff jumping and late night talks in the tent; I have made my closest companions while canoe tripping. As an assistant trip leader, it is my goal to give back a little of what Northwaters Langskib has done for me.
When I am not canoeing tripping, I enjoy mountain biking, skiing, and playing soccer. I currently am a sophomore at the University of Michigan and a contracted cadet in the United States Army.
