I was drawn to Northwaters & Langskib by the philosophy of “empowering young people to grow to be the best version of themselves”. I am eager to facilitate personal growth and life changing experiences. I find it easy to express compassion, have effective personal skills, and a variety of experiences as a trip leader. I get the most enjoyment seeing participants realize what they are really capable of. Working at Northwaters & Langskib, I learned that some of the best experiences you can provide participants with are ones that they facilitate themselves.
My experience in the outdoors began with Tripper Dave’s Junior Adventure Company. It was here that I went from a participant to a trip leader. I learned much through the mentorship of experienced guides, but soon learned that in order to learn more I had to grow. Which led me to Algonquin College for their Outdoor Adventure Program where I received extensive training in professionalism, risk management, leadership skills, and technical guiding skills.
In my spare time, I often like to go on canoe, raft, or sea kayaking trips. The beauty of the outdoors is where I feel at home, and often being on the water is the best way to experience it. I also participate yearly in Hell or High Water, a whitewater race in Petawawa, Ontario. In the last year, I have guided raft trips in Desolation Canyon, Ottawa River, and Madawaska River; sea kayaking in Georgian bay; and canoe trips down the Madawaska, Petawawa, as well as various lakes in Algonquin. Additionally, I volunteer as a guide for local high schools to help teachers run outdoor trips with their classes.
